asked:
any idea how the diamond qualities are at jcpenny store or kohls for those 10k diamond rings which are under or a little over $100.They are not certified which is okay, but if anyone has bought and used gold-diamond rings from kohls or jcpenny, how was your exerience with regard to quality,, sparkle and durability.
they often advertise sale offers for afforadable price specially during thanksgiving, x-mas or black friday.so wanna get an idea how these things are
thanks

If it’s a diamond ring that isn’t certified, it probably isn’t a real diamond (unless it’s really, really small or really atrocious quality). I’ve seen both places carry stones like “diamonique” or however it’s spelled, lol, point being that it is a diamond SIMULANT, not a real diamond. It may also be cubic zirconia in a decent setting. If you want a ring that is actually worth something AND looks like a beautiful flawless diamond, check out. In their shop they’ve got white sapphire solitaires that can be set in either 14kt gold or sterling silver, keeping the prices super low. Good luck finding what you want!

First off, 10k gold is barely gold, and isn’t often sold in the US. Second, an uncertified diamond is probably pretty poor quality, with many flaws and mediocre color. That said, if it’s pretty and sparkly, and the price is good, who really cares? The only part with the gold is if you or the person wearing the ring has metal sensitivities or allergies, they’re more likely to be irritated by lower quality gold. Once you purchase a piece of jewelry, you can send it to an independent agency to have it evaluated and certified, but depending on how much you pay, it may not be worth it. Your average person can’t tell the quality of a diamond just by looking at it (unless it’s side by side with another one of vastly different quality) and I personally feel like it’s a little over-rated. That’s just me, though.
Sorry, one more thing: beware the “chocolate” diamonds. Most often, these are trash diamonds that aren’t worth the setting they’re in. If you like them and think they’re pretty, awesome, but I promise you’re over-paying for them.
